Stroke Changes Lives

Stroke profoundly changes lives for survivors, families and caregivers alike. It can lead to feelings of isolation and helplessness, especially when aphasia is involved.

We understand this and are here to help.

At the University of Michigan Aphasia Program (UMAP), we believe that people with aphasia can lead productive, happy and satisfying lives. Through intensive, innovative, and hands-on therapy we work with clients, families and caregivers to reach their goals and improve quality-of-life for everyone.

Our UMAP clients come to us from across the country. They typically stay for six weeks and receive 23 hours of therapy each week, producing measurable results, unlike any other aphasia treatment program in the nation.

Mapping Success
"This group and the staff at the clinic continue to teach me that you get through life having goals, but you get through each day by celebrating small victories."
(Husband of client who has attended three sessions of UMAP)
