Practicing verbal expression at home Many activities that give beneficial speech-language practice are things that we all do on a daily basis, without ever realizing that we are ‘practicing’ speech and language! Below are some ways to use items you probably have in your own home to support speech-language practice. - Look at a family photo album. Have the person with aphasia name the people in the photos, the places where the photos were taken, and when they were taken. Have the person with aphasia describe what they see happening in the photos, using as many specific words as possible.
- Look at a favorite magazine and have the person with aphasia describe the pictures he or she sees.
